Apply for Domestic Partnership

Are you and your partner interested in some of the benefits of a married couple but not yet ready to get married?

Register as domestic partners to receive rights in the City of Orlando without getting married.

Rights include:

  • Correctional facility visitation
  • Emergency designation
  • Funeral and burial decision
  • Guardian designation
  • Healthcare decisions
  • Healthcare facility visitation

In-Person

Step 1.Determine if you are eligible

You are eligible to register if both partners are:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Not married
  • Not in a registered domestic partnership
  • Not a blood relative to your partner
  • Living in the same home together

Step 2.Gather your materials

You will need the following:

  • Valid government issued ID with photo (for example, driver's license, passport, state ID card, etc.)
  • $30 filing fee (debit or credit card)

Step 3.Visit City Hall to complete your application

Both partners must be present with the required documents. Registrations take place Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

While you are at City Hall, you will:

  • Pay your $30 filing fee
  • Initial, sign and date an affidavit
  • Have the affidavit notarized at the City Clerk's Office

Step 4.Receive your registration certificate 

We will provide you with a sealed certificate, two wallet-sized cards and a copy of your affidavit.

  • Not a blood relative to your partner
  • Living in the same home together

Step 2.Gather your materials

You will need the following:

  • A signed and notarized affidavit. You can get the affidavit here(PDF, 138KB).
  • $30 filing fee (debit or credit card)

Step 4.Receive your registration certificate 

We will provide you with an electronic sealed certificate and two cards. When processed, if you would like a copy of the recorded affidavit, go to the Orange County Comptroller website and select "Official Records Search." 

Below the search button, uncheck the box to search specific document types and select “Affidavit.” Type your name in the “Grantor” box and click on the search button.

Your affidavit will show up as a PDF document.
