Want to remove a tree?

Get a tree removal permit from the City of Orlando to remove an unhealthy, dead or hazardous tree from your property. The city requires anyone removing a tree from their property to obtain a tree removal permit.

Keep in mind: 

  • There is a $25 fee for a residential tree removal permit and $50 per acre fee for a commercial tree removal permit.
  • Do not use this form to remove trees that are part of a larger permitting or planning project.
  • Be as descriptive as possible with the location of the tree and the reason for removal.
  • After submitting your request, please mark the tree to help our staff identify the tree you want removed.

If the tree you wish to remove is more than four inches in diameter, at chest height, you need a permit to remove the tree.

Review inspection results

The arborist will visit in about three business days. After the inspection, they will follow up with you on the results of the inspection.

Pay permit fee

A permit fee of $25 for residential or $50 per commercial acreage is due prior to receiving your permit.

  • Pay by mail using a check or money order. Make checks and money orders payable to: The City of Orlando

Important: Include your permit application number with your payment. 

Receive your tree removal permit

Once payment is received, a copy of the permit will be provided to you.

Remove your tree

You are responsible for removing your tree safely. 

Plant a replacement tree

If your permit indicates that replanting is required for mitigation, plant the specified replacement tree(s) within 60 days.

Verify you planted a replacement tree

Within 60 days, let the city know you have planted a replacement tree. If you don't verify, you will be added to a non-compliance list.
